October Update
Tour De Proviso
On October 4, I was proud to represent Forest Park at the Tour De Proviso, a biking event linking our Proviso communities. I joined village staff Megan Roach, Rachell Entler, and Mayor Hoskins to show our continued support for this great regional effort and to cheer on cyclists.
Honoring Local Leaders
I was also pleased to join the Kiwanis Club of Forest Park in honoring our own Community Center Director, Karen Dylewski, along with Sharon O’Shea and former Mayor Anthony Calderone, for their service to our community’s young people and seniors. Their commitment continues to make Forest Park a wonderful place to live and grow.
Traffic and Safety Commission
Our Traffic and Safety Commission meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 7 pm in the Village Hall. The next meeting is November 20th, and we have a robust agenda, including our ongoing work plan and several resident requests. I want to thank Director Stella and the Commission for their responsiveness. When residents share feedback, we review every request and provide timely updates. To share your input, please email info@forestpark.net
Environmental Leadership
I have been selected as a Chicago Conservation Corps Sustainability Leader by the Chicago Academy of Sciences at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum. I am currently enrolled in an 8-week course that provides training and access to state experts in sustainability to help me become certified to lead conservation projects in Forest Park. With Director Sal Stella’s support, I hope to engage our Environmental Commission (they are already enthusiastic) about developing a project to engage residents in sustainable leaf collection, which will enhance our pollinator population in Forest Park, reduce the likelihood of residential flooding during storms, improve water quality, and reduce our public works costs.
